Interior design news: Gourd decor; a family collection; and, finally, a ...

GOURDS GALORE: Pumpkins aren't just for Halloween. Here are some fun and easy fall decor ideas using the colorful gourds.

"Fill a basket with a range of pumpkins and gourds from the market or pumpkin patch, and you'll have everything you need to welcome fall holidays with style. Then, when Thanksgiving rolls around, you can turn your decorations into pumpkin breads, squash soups and casseroles, clearing the way for the winter holidays ahead."

A FAMILY HOME: A peek inside a Minnesota home full of beauty, whimsy and some fantastic displays. From Design Sponge:

"Chris and Dave Plantan have lived in their Minneapolis, Minnesota, home for the past 15 years. It has survived two children, two dogs and loads of entertaining. Even with their children off in California now, it's a place they'll always call home and a comfortable space to recharge. Chris describes their style as whimsical traditional and full of things they hold near and dear, and with two working fireplaces, the house is like a big hug."

NEW KITCHEN: Love this kitchen makeover. Note the impact just changing the width of some of the cabinetry did. I also love the fact it took them 13 years to make the change. From Apartment Therapy: ?

"When Los Angeles writer Julie Wolfson purchased her house, the outdated kitchen came with a "hideously ugly" tile floor and a barely functioning oven. Julie and her husband Steven wanted to remodel the kitchen before moving in, but it ended up being too big a project to tackle at the time. Now, thirteen years later, they finally have the kitchen they dreamed about."
