Belarus to build a plant for coke production.
By Elena Pantukhova: This will be the biggest investment project in the history o Naftan. The costs amount to 730m USD and the launch is planned for late 2015. Power lines were raised and the roads lowered in order to get new equipment to Novopolotsk. (Valery Pristavka, director of BelDorTyazhTrans) A year of preparation works was necessary to get the load. (Alexander Zhakhovsky, head of the section o logistics at Naftan) This enterprise will be the future of petrochemical industry. The coke plant will allow processing masut, which is simply burnt at the moment, while the coke can be used in cement industry and other branches. (Sergey Kuznetsov, head of construction department at Naftan) Deep oil refining at Naftan amounts to 72% at the moment. This is the best figure in the CIS. The construction of a coke plant will raise it up to 92%.
