Microsoft releases OWA for iPhone and iPad

Microsoft releases OWA for iPhone and iPad

Microsoft has released OWA for iPhone and iPad, letting users access their Outlook email, calendars, and contacts. These apps are enhanced versions of the Outlook Web App, with added functionality for iOS devices, including voice actions and the ability to receive push notifications. The OWA apps also require that your mailbox has been updated to the latest version of Office 365 in order to work. Microsoft says that these apps aim to provide the same experience that users get on other platforms.

Our goal is to help our customers remain productive anytime, anywhere. This includes providing a great email experience on smartphones and tablets. Windows Phone 8 comes with a top-notch native email client in Outlook Mobile, and we offer Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), which is the de-facto industry standard for accessing Exchange email on mobile devices. In order to better support many of our customers who use their iPhones and iPads for work, we are introducing OWA for iPhone and OWA for iPad, which bring a native Outlook Web App experience to iOS devices!

The OWA apps for iOS are aimed at users working for companies with an Office 365 Business subscription of some kind, and as such, should not be downloaded by most users. But if you have been using the Outlook Web App, just waiting for a native solution, OWA for iPhone and iPad should provide the experience you're looking for. OWA for iPhone and OWA for iPad are separate apps, both available for free on the App store.

Since I'm not using Office 365, if you are, and you try OWA for iOS out, let me know how it works for you!

Endeavour Silver: A Solid-Gold Investment. - Seeking Alpha

Instead of going off on a rant about what's wrong with the economy I'd like to show you something that might get your juices flowing.

Last year at the end of Q3 2012 stock in Endeavour Silver Corp (EXK) was selling for $10.73 per share. That was about 40 weeks ago. Here, after Q2 2013, shares of EXK are selling just north of $3.50 per.

What's wrong with this picture? I can't say exactly except that all miners have been hammered with the bottoming of precious metals' prices. Actually, what is really wrong here is outside the scope of this article. However, by the end of this essay my thesis will reveal what is right with this picture.

Vancouver, British Columbia based, Canadian mining company Endeavour Silver Corp., operating three primary silver mines in northwest and central Mexico has just set new company records for silver and gold production in Q2 2013.

This year's Q2 totals were 1,535,873 ounces of silver (1,535,873M oz. Ag), a 48% increase over last year's production. Also gold production up a staggering 159% to 19,914 ounces processed (19.91K oz. Au) compared to Q2 2012. In fact, revenues bumped up in Q2 2013 57% to US$63.5 million as a result of increased mine production.

Impressively, this revenue increase is despite the considerable decrease in metals' prices across the board this year. Silver had fallen 35% to $19.08 per ounce (the price at which the company sold) while gold tumbled 28% to $1,151 per oz. sold.

Also consider this; over-all silver and equivalents produced by Endeavour increased 76% to 2.61 million ounces in Q2 2013 - and this at a generous 60:1 silver to gold ratio.

But wait, for more than 300 years it took some 28 ounces of silver to buy one ounce of gold, and the modern ratio of 50 something plus per oz. Au has been acceptable thus far, so?

..how out of whack is 60 to one?

That Endeavour Silver Corp. could weather a storm at a magnitude that has sent many miners scurrying for cover and still be able to advance and expand their business, is a very good indicator for the future of this company as well its staunch shareholders.

A very solid Endeavour Silver Corp. is directed by CEO Bradford Cooke, an intelligent businessman who effectively reduced costs, expanded production at one of the company's money-maker mines boosting cash flow, and successfully off-set the market's sharply reduced metals' prices.

It is also important to note that Endeavour Silver and Bradford Cooke believe in creative in-house financing, and advanced exploration.

The company was able to complete their CapEx program for the newly acquired El Cubo mine property, plant and surface infrastructure on time and budget by relying on revenue from the sale of stockpiled bullion. And despite cutting exploration expenditures by 25% the company still has eight spy drills turning on its properties - six in Mexico, one in Chile, and zone expansions at the three producing mine properties in Mexico; the Guanacevi in Durango State and the Bolanitas and El Cubo in Guanajuato State.

In a conference call to shareholders last week, the CEO explained, "The bulk of our spending is behind us. Our capital spending, [and] our exploration spending are behind us. And as a result, I think you'll see that we should see improvements to our balance sheet going forward. Instead of increasing drawdowns on our short-term credit line now, we expect that the positive cash flow we're generating will start adding to cash and reducing debt as we go through the balance of the year."

Mr. Cooke who formed Endeavour Silver in 2003 to acquire advanced, high-grade silver/gold projects in Mexico, is a professional geologist with 35 years experience in the mining industry specializing in financing, acquisition, exploration and development of mineral deposits. He holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Geology from two acclaimed Canadian universities, and with aces up his sleeve and plenty in the pipeline in both Mexico and (a million-ounce gold project) in Canada - of which we will discuss in a follow-up article - Bradford Cooke is a rising star.

Within six months of acquiring the Guanacevi Mine project in Durango in 2003, Endeavour discovered and developed into production the high-grade Porvenir silver mine. Today, Endeavour is one of the fastest growing primary producers of silver in the world.

Conclusion: If you believe, like so many economic and precious metals experts, that silver and gold will surge back to far out-perform a weakening dollar, Endeavour Silver Corp. is worthy of your precious investment capital.

If you're of a different mind set, perhaps then, good luck with your 10-year treasuries.

I fully intend to establish a half position in EXK this week and continue to buy on dips until I've loaded up. I see at least a four bag here or better, and when this train smokes from the station I am going to be onboard.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, but may initiate a long position in EXK over the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from Seeking Alpha). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article. (More...)

Evernote for Android gets OfficeSuite support, better widgets and more

Evernote for Android gets OfficeSuite support, better widgets and more

The latest Evernote for Android update has arrived. This one brings a nice mix of improvements as well as integration with OfficeSuite and Skitch. There were also some changes dealing with the Reminders list and with the widgets. This update is already available by way of the Play Store, however some of these changes will only be available for those with a Premium Evernote account.

evand-02

With that in mind, how about we begin with that Premium feature. That is the Skitch integration. Evernote Premium users are now able to mark up PDF files. This does require you to also have the Skitch app installed and basically just means that moving forward you will be able to mark up PDF files in a manner similar to how you could with regular image files. Also worth noting, despite this being done in the Skitch app, you can have those files saved directly to your Evernote account.

Another new feature that arrived with this latest update deals with OfficeSuite. This again is a stand-alone app. But thanks to a nicely timed OfficeSuite app update, Evernote users will now be able to edit documents saved in Evernote using the OfficeSuite app. This means users will be able to open a note in Evernote and when you tap the ?Edit? icon for that document, it will launch in OfficeSuite. Once done editing you can tap the back arrow in the top left and you will return to the note in Evernote with options to either replace the document or append it to the note.

evand-01

Otherwise, the Evernote app update also brought the ability to add new Reminders right from the Reminders list as well as ?numerous? performance and stability improvements. Shifting over to the changes dealing with the Evernote widgets and there are a few new abilities.

Once updated users will be able to view notes in a list and also view and add reminders directly from the widgets. Evernote also improved the way the widgets scale which should help make them a bit more useful on various screen sizes. Plus, there is now support for lock screen widgets.

Life Inventory Can Help Make Your iPhone/iPad Significantly More Useful

Revere, Massachusetts ? The Canadian Reviewer thinks James Hollender?s Life Inventory apps can increase the usefulness of your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. These apps may be complex, but once understood are amazing and built-in instructions are a great help. They guide users in creating their own Life Inventory, another term for Moral Inventory, which can provide greater self understanding of personality, strengths and weaknesses leading to a better quality of life. These apps allow any user, even someone not in a 12-Step program, to learn more about themselves than they ever thought possible and at only a small fraction the cost of a single visit to a therapist. The Canadian Reviewer has suggested Life Inventory may even become your always available digital therapist:

?If your smartphone has become your personal trainer, assistant, and even financial advisor, why not turn it into your therapist as well? Life Inventory app for iOS is here to help you understand what makes you tick. This app helps you create your own Life Inventory or Moral Inventory to provide you with better understanding of your personality, strengths, and weaknesses to help you live a better life.?

The Life Inventory for iPad app was rated as the 3rd Top iOS App for 2012:

?Life Inventory for iPad: This iPad top iOs apps 2012 has the potential to let users create their very own Life Stock, which may present higher self-understanding of their character, strengths, and weaknesses. Life Stock is geared towards folks working by manner of a 12 step AA program and has quite quite a bit of spiritual connotations as faith and fellowship is the cornerstone of these kinds of programs. It assists customers in probing into not solely what happened, but in addition why it happened. Life Stock is certainly equivalent to moral inventory. Because the idea behind the app is advanced, new users might wrestle a bit with it. Life Stock is suitable with iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later.?

The recent update to version 3.0 provides additional security to the Life Inventory for iPad app which doesn?t allow any access to the app at startup until proper authentication has been supplied, but only if the user has password protection implemented. This was a feature requested by a user who sometimes wants to loan out his iOS device, but doesn?t want the other user to see anything, even the instructions. A similar upgrade was also done for the iPhone and iPod touch version 2.7.

Both the iPad and iPhone/iPod touch versions accomplish exactly the same thing, only the interface is considerably different for each because of the significant differences in screen size.

The process of completing a Life Inventory does not directly address anyone?s specific problems, habits or addictions, but rather helps the user examine in detail events that have transpired in their life. The Life Inventory apps gently assists the user in probing into not only what happened, but also why it happened. The questions asked help the user delve into areas often never considered before, like:

* What did I want?
* Why did I want it?
* What am I not admitting?
* What lie did I tell myself?
* What did I leave out or not say?
* What lie did I tell others?
* Have I ever done the same thing?
* Was it any of my business?
* Were my expectations reasonable?
* What was the real truth?
* What was I not seeing?
* Did I fail to see the facts of the situation?
* What actions did I take to get what I wanted?
* What actions did I omit to get what I wanted?

Life Inventory guides the user through six different steps, each with its own activity grouping, for making a Life Inventory:

* Build Lists
* Causes and Effects
* My Part
* Fears Analysis
* Fear Questions
* Sex Relations

Throughout the process, users are encouraged to enter data into their Inventory, be completely honest about themselves and take advantage of encouragement and support.

The Inventory begins by making one simple list, which defines four fixed Categories in which to file away what are broadly categorized as Incidents:

* People
* Institutions and Organizations
* Principles, Ideals and Beliefs
* Sources of Anxiety and Excitement

Each of the four Categories will contain hierarchical sub-categories. From there, users outline Entities and then individual Incidents related each Entity.

Step-by-step, users complete the Causes and Effects of each Incident. Next, users determine the part they played in each Incident listed. It is not unusual to create hundreds of Incident forms, each devoted to a single incident. The app includes the ability to create and save all written lists and forms with password protection. Having completed all their Incident forms, users can refer to these forms to help list all their Fears. The app includes the following eight pre-defined fears, to which the user is free to add:

* Other people?s opinions
* Not getting what I want
* Not having control of the situation
* Financial insecurity
* Abandonment
* Physical harm
* Failure
* Success

The fifth step is examining each Fear category and answering the following key questions:

* Why did I have this fear?
* When did I first notice this fear in my life?
* How did I hold on to this fear?
* What did this fear make me do?
* What chain of circumstances did this fear set in motion in my life?
* How did I react to this fear?
* What decision did this fear cause me to make?
* How did self-reliance fail me?
* What should I have done instead?

And the sixth and final step is examining Sex Relations, where users answer all the following questions regarding each of their sexual relationships:

* How was I selfish?
* Where was I dishonest?
* Where was I inconsiderate?
* Who was hurt in this situation?
* Did I arouse jealousy, suspicion, or bitterness?
* Where was I at fault?
* What should I have done instead?
* What will I do in the future?
* Did I pray or have spiritual conversations with him/her?
* Did I pray for him/her?
* Did I enjoy his/her company?
* Did we bring each other closer to God?

?The process of completing a Life Inventory doesn?t directly address anyone?s specific problems, habits or addictions, but rather helps the user examine in detail events that have transpired in their life,? stated indie developer James Hollender. ?The Life Inventory app gently assists the user in probing into not only what happened, but also why it happened.? James Hollender is also the author of a suite of Nutrient apps based on the USDA National Nutrient Database:

* iCarbs (Carbohydrates)
* iCholesterol (Dietary Cholesterol)
* iFiber (Fiber)
* iKals (Calories)
* iPotassium (Potassium)
* iProteins (Proteins)
* iSatFat (Saturated Fat)
* iSodium (Sodium)
* iSugars (Sugars)
* Vitamin K (Vitamins K1, K1D & K2)
* iNutrients (encompasses all ten nutrients listed above)

Device Requirements:
* ?Life Inventory? ? iPhone and iPod touch
* ?Life Inventory for iPad? ? iPad only
* Requires iOS 5.0 or later

Pricing and Availability:
Life Inventory and Life Inventory for iPad are each $9.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the iTunes App Store in the Lifestyle category. A Lite version of each app is $1.99, which supplement the main app by providing a mock Moral Inventory from which the user can learn by example and experimentation. Review copies are available on request.

Investors wary of rising mortgage rates despite strong builder confidence

By Sagarika Jaisinghani

(Reuters) - An odd thing happened after data released Tuesday showed that the homebuilder confidence index rose to its highest level in almost eight years - housing stocks barely moved on the news.

Wary of rising mortgage rates, investors are choosing to stay on the sidelines rather than celebrate indications of a firming economic recovery.

Homebuilder confidence rose in July to its strongest level in 7-1/2-years as tightening supply and solid demand fueled the sector's recovery, data from the National Association of Home Builders released on Tuesday showed.

The index almost exclusively covers private builders but shares of publicly listed builders generally tend to move.

Shares of the largest U.S. homebuilder D.R. Horton Inc , No. 3 Lennar Corp and Toll Brothers Inc , the market leader in luxury homes, were all flat in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of No. 2 builder PulteGroup Inc fell 1 percent.

The wider S&P 500 <.spx> index was down marginally on Tuesday.

"Right now we're just in a very volatile period where interest rate concerns really are outweighing the other demand side of the equation," Williams Financial Group analyst David Williams said.

Mortgage rates have been rising since May and touched their highest level in two years in the first week of July, hurting housing demand.

The Dow Jones Home Construction <.djushb> index has tripled since October 2011, when news of a recovery in housing demand started trickling in.

But it declined about 10 percent over the last few weeks after U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke suggested the central bank could ease spending if the economy continued to recover.

SUPPLY CONSTRAINTS

Investors' reaction also suggests that many are now looking beyond housing demand and studying supply concerns that are being caused by stricter lending rules and shortage of labor.

D.R. Horton's stock recorded its largest percentage jump in 5-1/2-months on July 11 after unemployment data suggested a healing in the labor market.

While investors are playing a wait-and-watch game, analysts' projections indicate that the rising interest rates are just a hiccup in the recovery.

"Severely constrained existing home inventory, historically low mortgage rates, and improving buyer confidence are creating positive momentum for rising home prices this year," Raymond James analyst Buck Horne wrote in a client note on Tuesday.

D.R. Horton is trading at about $21, below its intrinsic value of $27.93 as measured by Thomson Reuters StarMine. The model is a measure of how much a stock should be worth currently when considering expected growth rates over the next 15 years.

PulteGroup trades at about $19 versus an intrinsic value of $26.60. Lennar is at $35.42 compared with $37.01.
