CHARLOTTE ? Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in front of a northwest Charlotte church.
The body of 43-year-old Cedric Miller was found on Lakewood Avenue. A call came in around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, and police arrived on the scene and found Miller in the street in front of Faith Memorial Baptist Church with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members say they were with him just hours earlier, celebrating their sister's 60th birthday.
"He just got out of jail and was turning his life around. Now he's leaving his son and daughter,? said Yvonne Campbell, Miller's sister. ?What are we going to tell his daughter? She's only 4 years old.?
"He did a lot of stuff, but he put that in the past,? said his brother, Larry Miller. ?But I guess it came back to haunt him.?
This is no word yet on any possible suspects. Police are canvassing the neighborhood to see if anyone saw or heard anything.

Pop culture blogger Perez Hilton and Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills have had an ugly argument in the wake of the death of Corey Monteith.
Following the sad news of the Glee star?s passing, Perez took to Twitter ? like many other stars ? to express his sadness, saying; ?R.I.P. Cory Monteith? And may his family find solace in knowing that he touched the hearts of people worldwide.?
He then went on to speculate what the public reaction would be if he were to die himself, adding: ?I like to be real. Even with myself. If I died right now, many people would celebrate and think the world was better off.?
The blogger went on, revealing how he?d personally like to be remembered.
?I hope over time people can see in my heart and soul. I hope my true self shines. I hope I continue to be better and do better,? he said, before adding: ?It is my biggest hope in life than when I die I am remembered as an amazing father and someone who made people smile and shared great music.?
However, the comments did not sit well with Scott Mills, who accused Perez of self-indulgence in one of his own tweet.
?Really very sad to hear about Corey Monteith. And somebody really needs to stop Perez Hilton tweeting right now,? the radio presenter said.
Perez then fired back at Mills, saying: ?I say this with a lot of love. Go stick a baseball bat up your ass!?, to which Scott replied:??is this a tribute to yourself? Shut up?
The situation seemed to culminate with Perez declaring he would block Mills from his Twitter feed.
Glee star Moneteith, who had been known to struggle with drug addiction in the past, was found dead on Saturday in a hotel in Vancouver aged 31.

As the upgrade to one of the most addicting and exciting games on the App Store, I know I?m not the only one who is frustrated, and slightly annoyed, that the app has been released in Australia and New Zealand significantly sooner than anywhere else. Fortunately, I?m going to be running you through a step-by-step guide so that you can install it right now on your iPhone or iPad.
I?ve done a whole breakdown and visual walkthrough of the process that I?m about to describe, so if you?d prefer to follow through with that, the video can be found below. If you?ve watched the video above, and aren?t sure of all the steps in the process, here?s a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Access the iTunes Store.
Step 2: Sign out of your default iTunes account.
Step 3: Change your country of access at the bottom right of the iTunes Store page to New Zealand, or Australia.
Step 4: Search for ?Plants Vs. Zombies 2?, or view the top free applications.
Step 5: When prompted to sign into an iTunes account, select ?Create Account?.
Step 6. Fill out all of the initial information on the sign-up screen, it doesn?t need to be accurate apart from the email.
Step 7: On the next screen, select the payment option ?None?. If you don?t download a free app, this option won?t be visible to you, so try again with any free application from the App Store.
Step 8: Complete the rest of the form, the information you fill in doesn?t need to be legitimate.
Step 9: An email with a verification link will be sent to the email that you supplied.
Step 10: Download and sync your device, then the Plants Vs. Zombies 2 application will install on your device!
Voila! Just like that, you now also have an iTunes account which you can use to download and install apps before they hit the United States (and other) App Stores. You can follow the same procedure to create App Store account of any other country you like. Of course this is particularly useful this time round, because PopCap is doing a scheduled roll out in New Zealand and Australia to start with, so this method may be the only way to download PvZ2 for the next few weeks.

'Glee' star Cory Monteith found dead in Vancouver hotel room

(Reuters) - Canadian actor Cory Monteith, 31-year-old heart throb of Fox's musical-comedy television series "Glee", was found dead on Saturday in his Vancouver hotel room, police said.
Police and paramedics found no signs of foul play and the cause of death was not immediately apparent, British Columbia Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe told reporters at a news conference.
Monteith had talked about his problems with substance abuse.
In response to a question about whether Monteith died of a drug overdose, Vancouver Police Department acting chief Doug LePard said he would "not discuss anything that we might have found in the room at this time".
"We only notified family members about an hour ago, so we haven't even been able to have those conversations with them," he said.
Monteith, whose "Glee" character Finn Hudson was a high school football player turned enthusiastic glee club - or musical group - singer, was treated at a rehabilitation facility for an unspecified substance addiction this year.
The actor, who grew up in Victoria, British Columbia, told Parade magazine in 2011 about what he called a serious drug problem during his teenage years, and was first treated for addiction at 19.
Other people were in Monteith's Pacific Rim Hotel room on Friday night but evidence, including fob key entries, indicated he returned to his room by himself early on Saturday and was alone when he died, police said. He was due to check out of the hotel that day.
Monteith had been dead for several hours when his body was discovered by police and paramedics answering an emergency call, Lapointe said.
"The death of a young person is a tragedy for their family, friends and community," Lapointe said. "A sudden death is more shocking and our hearts go out to the family and friends who are mourning the loss of this young man."
Monteith began his career in a number of small roles leading up to a recurring part between 2006 and 2007 in the ABC Family science-fiction drama "Kyle XY" and another role around the same time on the MTV series "Kaya".
But "Glee," a show set in the small town of Lima, Ohio, was Monteith's breakthrough role. A big part of the show was his character's on-again-off-again romance with glee club star Rachel Berry, an aspiring entertainer played by Lea Michele.
Monteith and Michele followed in the footsteps of their fictional counterparts by dating in real life.
In recent episodes of the series, Rachel had jetted off to attend college in New York while Finn stayed in Lima, where he worked at his father's auto repair shop and later got involved in helping lead his former school's glee club.
In a statement on their "Glee" Twitter page, the executive producers of the show and Fox said they were "deeply saddened by this tragic news".
"Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person," the Twitter message said. "He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones."
Singer and former "Glee" actress Kristin Chenoweth said in a message on Twitter shortly after the police news conference, "You will be loved. Always."
An autopsy was set for Monday, LePard said.
